Jimmie Johnson: We're Ready Poster

In only his 13th NASCAR Winston Cup start, rookie Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag at the end of the NAPA Auto Parts 500 at California Speedway in Fontana. Johnson already had two pole starts to his credit - including the season-opener Daytona 500 - and was working on an impressive top-five finish at Fontana when crew chief Chad Knaus made the call for a 'splash of gas' and no tires under a yellow flag with 17 laps to go. It was the decision that put the No. 48 Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse Monte Carlo in victory circle and gave California native Johnson his first win on NASCAR's premier circuit. Lowe's commissioned Sam Bass to commemorate the moment on canvas in a painting he calls 'We're Ready!'
